Insecticides can be applied in various methods including sprays, dusts, gels, and baits. Because of the form and application, each insecticide poses a level of risk to non-targeted insects, the environment, animals and even people.

There are two types of insecticide:

  • Non systemic – a topical contact form often called Knockdown
  • Systemic – a very soluble form that is capable of being absorbed into the plant tissues and circulated, resulting in the plant becoming toxic to those insects that feed on it.
